14-Year-Old Pleads Guilty to Teen Girl’s Murder
In March 2023, three teenagers — ages 12, 16, and 17 — were arrested and charged with the brutal murder of 16-year-old Layla Silvernail in Marion County, Florida. The youngest suspect, Christopher Atkins, just took a plea deal requiring him to testify against the other teens. Trials for the remaining suspects are set for July, while Atkins faces 40 years to life in prison. Law&Crime’s Elizabeth Millner has the update in this case.
