Alan Dershowitz clarified that he does not advocate for torture. However, he does acknowledge that given its occurrence, it requires the oversight of the courts. He proposes the idea of obtaining “torture warrants” to regulate its use and keep the practice under control. He argued that if torture could prevent a mass casualty event, any leader would authorize its use, citing a case where torture allegedly prevented a terrorist from detonating bombs on nine commercial airliners. Addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Alan does not believe peace is a likely outcome. He stated that the Palestinians have turned down multiple opportunities to establish their own state. He attributes this to the refusal of Palestinian leaders to recognize Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people, an assertion he said he based on personal conversations with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
