Celebrating the achievements and journeys of successful women during the month of March today we highlight the journey of Athing Mu, the world’s youngest female world title holder and 2x Olympic Gold medalist in track & field for individual events.

Ryan, Channing and Fred sit down with the 20 year old superstar to talk about her fast-track to the top of the sport and how she handled life changing quickly going from a high school student to College student to NCAA champion to Olympic gold medalist to world champ in less than two years. Her meteoric rise and unprecedented success has Athing’s name in conversations with top athletes around the globe and expectations continue to grow which is both a good and bad thing for the young star.

Unbeaten for 13 races, Athing is considered the future of of American sports and the most exciting runner in track and field at the moment where that pressure can seem overwhelming, especially for a young woman, but Athing takes everyday day with stride and realizes she is running for herself, focusing on her personal growth with each challenge she faces. The guys are blown away by her confidence and complete belief in herself to avoid the pressures and stress other athletes in her position may go through and just flat out compete. With her family migrating from Sudan before she was born, Athing doesn’t forget the sacrifices her parents made for her and although she runs for the United States she represents her homeland every time she steps on the track.

Her passion for running is matched with her dream of walking the runways one day as a fashion model and with all the confidence, Athing believes she has room for both in her life and looks forward to the day she gets to trade her cleats for heels and step into that part of her realm being seen as more than an athlete. Gearing up for competition, Athing is currently training with Bob Kersee, husband of track phenom Jackie Joyner-Kersee, and is learning not just how to be a pro on the track but in life too.
