She had about three pounds of old, low-quality marijuana stored for years, which was ineffective when smoked. Learning to “upgrade” the product, Carl soaked it with Jack Daniels and microwaved it, improving its appeal enough to sell. His great grandmother’s stash provided him with seed money to purchase better quality weed and enter the hustle seriously. Carl’s early lessons from his family included strict secrecy, shaping his discreet and strategic approach to the business from the start.
