The Brooklyn native was arrested in December 2014, following a police raid at the infamous Quad Studios, marking the culmination of a year-long investigation. Authorities linked GS9 to the G Stone Crips, assembling a case involving firearms and narcotics charges. Shmurda, however, emphasized GS9’s identity as a music label, disassociating from the alleged gang activities. Despite industry efforts to relocate him for safety, Shmurda’s ties to Brooklyn remained strong, illustrating the challenges he’s faced navigating his career amid legal battles.
