This is the story of 31 year old Cashay Henderson. A loving, kind transgender woman who was described as, outspoken, wickedly funny, and strong. Being a black transgender woman, Cashay was aware of the dangers and safety concerns transgender women face every day in society. Sadly, Cashay would fall victim to the violence that many transgender women fear when she is found shot to death inside of her burned apartment. This horrific crime would devastate Milwaukee’s LGBTQ community especially Cashay’s friends and family and have many asking will they ever be safe or will things just keep getting worse?
