Dad Showing Off Gun Kills Son’s Auburn Grad Girlfriend: Lawsuit
The family of 24-year-old Whitney Robeson has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Jeffrey Scott Towers, alleging he recklessly handled a loaded antique revolver that fired and killed her inside his Alabama home while showing off firearms to Whitney and his son. The lawsuit claims Towers failed to properly inspect or maintain the weapon, lacked firearm safety knowledge, and acted negligently, while also revealing Whitney had no drugs or alcohol in her system when she died. The civil suit comes as Towers now faces a manslaughter charge after what was initially ruled an accidental shooting, with his attorney insisting the longtime Alabama resident has no criminal history and is not guilty.
