2017 THROWBACK: "WALTER WHITE CRIES AS HE'S HELD ON $75 MILLION BAIL FOR 5 MURDERS"
An Ohio man accused in the murders of five people cried during a court appearance Thursday as he was ordered held on $75 million bond.
George Brinkman Jr. appeared in Parma on aggravated murder charges for the deaths of Suzanne Taylor, 45, and her daughters, 21-year-old Taylor Pifer and 18-year-old Kylie Pifer. His bond was set for $25 million for each victim.
Brinkman had been charged Tuesday in Stark County in the deaths of 71-year-old Rogell Eugene John and 64-year-old Roberta Ray John at their Lake Township home. He had been arrested earlier Tuesday following a standoff with SWAT team members. The new charges revealed that Suzanne Taylor’s throat was slit, Kylie Pifer was strangled with a phone cord and Taylor Pifer was smothered. Their bodies were found Sunday at their North Royalton home. The three victims were found “lying face down in bed all lying right next to one another,” according to a police report obtained by Cleveland 19. Suzanne Taylor’s boyfriend would tell a 911 operator that that he spotted “her friend George’s car” at the home, according to the station.
Brinkman could be seen crying as the judge read the charges in Parma Municipal Court. He was shackled and one of his arms was in a cast as he looked down during most of the hearing. The 45-year-old suspect didn’t enter a plea, and a grand jury will consider whether to indict him. He allegedly used a gun and killed the Johns “during a robbery” on Sunday, according to Cleveland 19. He was given a $4 million bond for the two murders.
Brinkman knew Suzanne Taylor since they were children, but investigators have not released a possible motive, according to Cleveland 19. He also served as the house-sitter for the John couple and once dated their daughter, according to Cleveland 19.
