"GET THE F*CK OUT THE CAR": DASHCAM VIDEO SHOWS EXCESSIVE FORCE BY MINNESOTA COPS"

The American Civil Liberties Union released footage yesterday that they claim shows a Minnesota cop’s ‘brutal attack’ on a man that he pulled over.

The group is calling for an investigation into the arrest of 22-year-old Anthony Promvongsa, made on July 28 last year, over what they allege is an example of excessive force.

In the video, Worthington police officer Joe Joswiak – also a member of the Buffalo Ridge Drug Task Force – can be seen pulling over an SUV.

When the car stops, he appears to shout ‘Get the f*** out of the car, motherf*****!’ before opening Promvongsa’s door and kneeing him while he is in the driver’s seat. oswiak can then be seen to strike Promvongsa with his fists before pushing him to the ground.

In a statement, the ACLU said: ‘Agent Joswiak’s use of force against Anthony Promvongsa is disturbing and completely unnecessary,’ branding it a ‘brutal attack’.

According to the Star Tribune, Joswiak has not been disciplined for his role in the incident.

Promvongsa was suspected of initiating a road-rage incident and then resisting arrest.

He later attended hospital and was released the same day.

Worthington Police Chief Troy Appel and Commander Nate Grimmius said in a joint statement: ‘The video, viewed in a vacuum, shows only a short segment of the incident that is the basis of the criminal charges.’ Promvongsa said in a statement that the attack, which ‘literally blindsided’ him, was ‘unnecessary’.

He added: ‘I immediately pulled over for the Worthington squad car, and before I know what was happening, I was beat and ripped from my vehicle.’

According to the criminal complaint, he was charged with possessing marijuana, assault with a dangerous weapon, fleeing police in a vehicle and driving after his license was revoked.

Promvongsa, who in the criminal complaint is also said to have endangered an off-duty police officer by tailgating, swerving and making hand gestures, is awaiting trial.
