In this clip, Aries Spears discussed the state of hip-hop and in particular the place of ghostwriters in the culture. Aries showed love to artists like Drake and Kanye West but ultimately can’t put them in the same category as Biggie, JAY-Z, Nas, and Eminem. He went on to discuss the difference in approaches to creating hip-hop versus other, more collaborative-friendly genres of music. Aries also expressed disappointment at the current state of hip-hop, pointing out new acts such as Lil Pump and his hit record “Gucci Gang” as a sign of a more significant problem with the art.
