Childish Gambino Turns Up on ‘The Tonight Show’

Donald Glover took his musical alter ego Childish Gambino to Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show on Wednesday to perform material from his brand-new album Awaken, My Love!
Awaken, My Love! was released to rave reviews (though not from everyone), and was one of the top-selling albums in the country the week it was released. Glover also just released a new virtual reality-enhanced video for the track “Me and Your Mama.”
The album features a heavy funk influence, with Glover mentioning the Isley Brothers and Funkadelic as touchstones. That was apparent in the Tonight Show performance, where a shirtless Glover performed “Redbone.”
