Death Row’s own Danny Boy chopped it up with DJ Vlad about his time at Death Row Records. At the tender age of 15 Danny Boy flew to L.A. with a demo package and was given the opportunity to sing for Suge Knight and Jimmy Iovine during a chance meeting at Interscope Records. “Right then and there he made an offer, and that deal ended up being $325,000,” he remembers of Death Row’s heyday.

About a year later, Danny Boy’s mother passed away just as his career began. “A little bit before she passed he put me under his wing,” Danny Boy says of Suge Knight. “He treated me as a son.” A few months later and after a talk with the young crooner’s family, Suge decided to become his legal guardian in order for him to continue working in L.A.
