North Carolina beat Gonzaga 71-65 in the NCAA Tournament title game on Monday night. But all anyone wanted to talk about after it ended was the game’s referees. Some fans think the refs, who called 44 fouls during the game and awarded 52 free throws, slowed down the pace of the game and made it unwatchable. The refs are also being criticized for missing a key call at the end of the game. But others think it was the poor play of the players, not the refs, that ruined the game. Either way, there’s no denying that the title game ended up being pretty unmemorable because of the way it played out.
