Last year, Brother Polight sat down with VladTV and shared his thoughts on why people in black communities strive to be great athletes over being teachers, and he says it boils down to what society places importance on, in terms of pay days. He explains that if teachers were paid more, there would be more people trying to be teachers, but in our current society the status and wealth that comes along with being a great boxer or basketball player is far greater.

Brother Polight went on to explain that he feels that people like Floyd Mayweather or Michael Jordan are naturally talented, but he added that “Floyd is boxing to stay out of poverty.”

To hear more of what Brother Polight had to say, including how he was influenced by teachers that believed in him, hit the above clip.
