Flashback: Drake Admits He Can’t Freestyle, Says “I’m a Writer”

During a 2009 interview with now-retired radio host Kevin W. Reese, Drake spoke about the sudden fame he had achieved after linking up with Lil Wayne’s Young Money imprint. He spoke about the buzz surrounding So Far Gone, and how he saw himself in hip-hop. He explained that he doesn’t aspire to be the “rapper’s rapper,” adding that he excels better at writing than he does at freestyling.
