Lecrae opened up to VladTV about black churches not being looked at favorably in certain parts of the black community, which he said he can see from their point of view. Lecrae explained that the black church has chastised rappers over the years so he could see why hip-hop hasn’t been close to the black church.

During the conversation, Lecrae also spoke about 2Pac being his hero, despite openly disparaging the black church, and a video of 2Pac talking down on the black church circulating after Hurricane Harvey. When asked about Joel Osteen not opening his church, Lecrae said he doesn’t know why Osteen didn’t open the doors, but he was upset to see that giving churches weren’t highlighted in the media.
