Phresher on Being Compared to Busta Rhymes, Nicki Last Major NY Rapper (Part 2)

Watch Part 1:
In this clip, Phresher and DJ Vlad discuss how hard it is for rappers to actually break into the industry. The two broke down the way luck, location, and networking play a major role in an artist actually becoming successful. For Phresher, he said during his come-up that he didn’t get much love from his block because he didn’t have a traditional New York sound. However, by meeting the right people he was able to catch the necessary breaks to launch his career.

Phresher went on to discuss the New York sound and said that it’s actually something he doesn’t care about. To him, being restricted to a certain sound only limits what he can do. Phresher said that he’s more about repping New York City rather than a New York sound.
