In this clip, RJ discussed the history behind the name “Mr. LA” and the subsequent backlash he received from it. RJ revealed that his name was initially “RJ Mr. LA to the A” in reference to him moving to Atlanta in his early 20s. He said upon returning to Los Angeles, he dropped the latter part of the name and kept “RJ Mr. LA.”
RJ also talked about his unconventional way of settling his minor beef with fellow LA rapper 03 Greedo. RJ said the two performed on stage together, taking turns performing their biggest hits and letting the crowd decide who they rocked with more. RJ proposed this method of handling future rap beef before things escalate and to keep it strictly about the music.
