Today on Sway in the Morning we caught up with Atlantic Records recording artist Sir the Baptist to talk about his musical influences, his goal as an artist and his new project “Saint or Sinner.”

The Chicago native claims that he’s only a choir boy with a few lines and one mission: to holistically heal hip-hop. “I knew that if I came out that I had to say something that was really important and really try to save us from our own demise.”

In an age where consumption of drugs is constantly glorified in hip-hop culture, Sir the Baptist says that we need to focus on the many real issues that can lead artists down that path.

His album, which dropped last month, mixes hip-hop, R&B and gospel-like styles. It features the likes of Brandy, Ray J and more. Sir the Baptist explained what it was like to work with someone of Brandy’s stature and witness her genius.
