Viola Davis Won Her 1st Oscar For Best Supporting Actress

Viola Davis has won the Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Fences.

In her speech, Davis thanked her family and said she became an artist because “we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life.” Davis was also teary-eyed when she thanked Denzel Washington and her parents, Dan and Mae Alice.
