Bas was the first artist to sign to J. Cole’s Dreamville Records. Prior to that, the Queens bred rapper got his big break off his song “Lit,” which features J. Cole and KQuick, originally appearing on his 2013 effort, Quarter Water Raised Me Vol. II. From there, Bas appeared on Born Sinner, featured on “New York Times” with 50 Cent, and later “Hell’s Kitchen” from DJ Khaled’s Suffering From Success. He surprised fans with Two Weeks Notice in preparation for his debut project, Last Winter, released in April. Watch above as he tells us why he should appear on the coveted XXL Freshmen list.
