Florida Man Dog Fight Ends in Deadly AR-15 Killing
A long-running feud between neighbors in Fort Myers, Florida turned deadly when an argument over a dog and a vehicle escalated into a shooting, leaving 50-year-old Carl “Doyle” Whited dead. Shooter Andrew Perkins admitted to firing multiple rounds from an AR-15 but claimed he acted in self-defense, saying he feared for his life and his dog’s safety, though investigators and witness accounts challenged that claim. A jury ultimately rejected his “Stand Your Ground” defense, finding him guilty of second-degree murder, and he was sentenced in March 2026 to 40 years in prison followed by lifelong probation.
