Hernandez Govan discussed his connection to the suspects involved in the murder of Memphis rapper Young Dolph. Govan confirmed he had known Justin Johnson, aka Straight Drop, for around six years and had been in contact with him primarily regarding music business dealings. Although aware of Straight Drop’s troubled past, Govan expressed surprise at the allegations, emphasizing he never considered him capable of harming an innocent person.

Govan also confirmed knowing Cornelius Smith, another suspect, who along with Straight Drop was identified in connection with the November 2021 shooting at Dolph’s favorite bakery. Contrary to rumors, Govan was not incarcerated when the shooting occurred and stressed that his interactions with the suspects were separate from their alleged crimes. While shocked by the accusations, he acknowledged the environment these men were involved in made it possible. Govan denied knowing the driver charged as an accessory after the fact.
