DJ Drama Goes In On Jay-Z's Rocnation Over The Lil Uzi Vert Situation

During an appearance on the New Rory & Mal podcast, DJ Drama opened up about Lil Uzi Vert’s past beef with his record label Generation Now.

Back in 2019, Roc Nation allegedly stepped in to “save,” as Drama puts—Uzi’s career. The Philly rapper accused Drama, Don Cannon, and Generation Now of blocking the release of his Eternal Atake album, before Uzi signed with Roc Nation.

According to Drama, though, the situation was blown out of proportion by Roc Nation, which the music executive claims wrongly made him and Cannon look like “the bad guys.”

“Generation Now, we had amazing success with Lil Uzi Vert,” Drama said at the 1:55 mark of the video above. “We’re in a great space. One of the reasons why it was a tough spot for us is because Vert’s success was our success. Even with the Roc Nation situation, like Roc Nation was put in the media as if they saved Lil Uzi Vert’s career. It was a ‘Free Uzi’ campaign. ‘Roc Nation, save Lil Uzi.’ Save him from who?”

“We didn’t do nothing wrong by that kid,” he added. “All we did was help make him a fucking superstar.”

Earlier in the interview, Drama maintained that all is well between him, Cannon, and Uzi, as the latter two worked together on the rapper’s latest project, the Red & White EP.
