Gunna Goes Up in Smoke Behind Bars

Gunna has released a statement about his current incarceration on racketeering charges, coinciding with his 29th birthday. “I am being falsely accused and will never stop fighting to clear my name!” he wrote. “As a Black Man in America, it seems as though my art is only acceptable when I’m a source of entertainment for the masses.” Read the rest in full below.

Gunna was arrested in May as part of a massive RICO indictment of YSL operations and associates, with authorities alleging that the Atlanta-based collective is connected to criminal gang activity. He’s set to go to trial in 2023 after pleading not guilty and being denied bond. Young Thug, who was hit with seven more felony charges after his RICO arrest, has also remained incarcerated upon being denied bond. #gunna #youngthug #hiphop
