Meek claims Atlantic has made over $100 million on him and still doesn’t give him the freedom to drop music when he wants. The Philly native also took aim at his record company for cutting him out of managing Roddy Ricch when he was behind bars (Roddy is signed to Atlantic), which he says is similar to the tactics they used to try to hurt the MMG relationship between Meek and Rick Ross.
“So look I made Atlantic records 100’s of millions and let them rape me out out Roddy a artist they came to me about in jail … they still saying I can’t drop music until 9 months after my last album got blackballed,” he began.“Roddy my youngin still …. But that label seperated us instantly when the millions came in from him… same thing they tried to do with me and rozay … it takes a long time to catch up too because most of em tied in for the love of some money …artist scared to speak up.”Roddy Ricch and Meek have collaborated on numerous occasions on tracks such as “Letter to Nipsey,” “Splash Warning” and Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial‘s “Peta.”
The Dreamchasers CEO wants other artists to speak up about the alleged bogus business practices from labels to help the next generation avoid some of the same issues he’s had to deal with.
He also claimed Atlantic Records didn’t pour any cash into his Expensive Pain project and they’re not allowing him to drop an album for nine months once he’s officially out of his deal with the label. #meekmill
