Rappers Who Predicted Their Deaths

Since the outset of art history, those bold enough to express themselves across canvases, poetry books and novels have always had a fascination with mortality. Eternally seen as the great unknown, both the disintegration of our earthly forms and the intrigue over what comes after has acted as source material for everything from Dante’s Inferno to the works of Emily Dickinson and many more.

A musical artform that is uniquely intertwined with themes of both personal downfall and the deaths of others, the onset of gangsta rap meant that suddenly, talk of either catching bodies or meeting their own grisly end became incredibly commonplace in hip-hop. In fact, it’s now so normalized that sometimes, it doesn’t sink in until after the dust settles that through their words in both interviews and their all-important bars, MC’s have been dropping cosmic hints to the fate that awaits them.
