This is coming after a Twitter user suggested that Beyonce should be known as ‘Mama Africa’ just hours after ‘Black is King’ - the visuals based on ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ soundtrack was released. Although Beyonce said that ‘Black is King’ “presented elements of black history and African tradition with a modern twist” while featuring a myriad of African designers and artists including Burna Boy, Shatta Wale, Yemi Alade, Busiswa, Salatiel, Wizkid, Mr Eazi, and others. Many referred to the project as a constant joke and boring narrative. No, Queen Bee. Africans don’t just wake up with white chalk on their faces or live in blue huts. Even though we wear agbada to owambes, we prefer suits sometimes. And we have Wifi.
