The objective of the scene was to shock and disturb viewers to indicate the gritty narrative of the film. Hughes additionally mentioned how the film was also a response to other popular films from the same era like ‘Boyz N the Hood’ and ‘New Jack City.’ There were also revelations about casting; notably, it was confirmed that MC Eiht was considered for a role in ‘Menace II Society.’
