Anthony Hamilton Tells His Life Story (Flashback)

Back in 2020, Anthony Hamilton sat down for a full-length interview with VladTV, and he shared his life story, including growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina. Anthony then revealed that he was adopted by a friend’s family after his stepfather passed away and his mother was no longer able to fully care for him. From there, Anthony spoke about briefly getting in the streets before a life-changing meeting with producer Mark Sparks, which led to him signing with Uptown Records. After going on tour with Jodeci, Anthony detailed how his career took a few setbacks, but he went on to work with 2Pac on “Dear Mama” and “Thugs Mansion.” After 10 years of grinding, Anthony spoke about having his first big hit, “Coming From Where I’m From,” as well as “Charlene.” During the conversation, Anthony also spoke about doing the hook for Jadakiss’ biggest hit, “Why,” and he also detailed having jam sessions at Prince’s house. To hear more, including Anthony speaking about doing “Freedom” for Django Unchained, hit the full interview above.
