In this clip, Apollonia speaks about her famous “Purple Rain” scene where she has to purify herself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka. Apollonia revealed that she nearly died filming the scene because the lake was about to freeze over, and after doing the scene several times, she began to get hypothermia. After speaking about pulling through with the help of Prince trying to warm her up, Apollonia spoke about other scenes, including Morris Day hitting Prince with a motorcycle and Prince slapping her. Apollonia then revealed that the film wasn’t accepted by white America due to her and Prince playing interracial love interests.
