We recently connected with the legendary C-Loc for an exclusive “Off The Porch” interview! During our sit down he talked about being considered the godfather of Baton Rouge hip-hop, being in the rap game for 30 years, the main differences in the game now compared to back then, the pros of selling CDs, loneliness that comes with being a visionary, being born off the porch, being Young Bleed’s DJ while in middle school, dropping his first single in 1993, his first couple album being more like compilation projects, using Pen & Pixel to make his first album covers, the importance of album art for fans discovering new music & artists, forming Concentration Camp, how getting locked up effected his career, learning how to make beats from KLC, his reaction to hearing Young Bleed’s “A Fool” for the first time, KLC remixing the record, Master P changing the title to “How Ya Do Dat”, the Louisiana club culture, the differences between Baton Rouge & New Orleans music culture, knowing Boosie was going to be a superstar when he first met him, featuring Boosie on several compilation albums before he dropped his debut album, explains why there wasn’t a second Young Bleed album after ‘My Balls & My Word’, staying grounded during his success, his mindset on working Boosie’s “Youngest Of Da Camp” album while he was locked up, doing a deal with Trill Ent, working with Three 6 Mafia, Master P, Bun B & Juvenile, his experience working with Three 6, adapting to the digital era, not focusing on getting his props, still having passion & motivation, working with SPM, Happy Perez, reveals one of the biggest lessons he learned, and much more!
