We recently sat down with GA legend CyHi for an exclusive “Off The Porch” interview! During our conversation he spoke about how he got into making music, jumping off the porch when he was 14, hanging out with a lot of older folks when he was a teenager, lessons he learned, the difference between being a boss & a leader, starting to take rap serious when he was 18, a lot of labels & rappers wanting to sign him at the time, signing his first deal with Def Jam & Akon, coming up with concepts for his songs & albums, his song “Stutter” catching Kanye’s attention, coming up during the mixtape era, his experience going to Hawaii to work on Ye’s ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Dark Fantasy’, being featured on a song with Jay-Z, the struggles artists face today to try & create a buzz without using the streets, starting his own label EGOT, his thoughts on RICO charges against artists, his classic album ‘No Dope On Sundays’, writing for other artists, going through a near-death experience last year, his new EP ’EGOT’, working with Big Bank on “Slide”, his upcoming album, his relationship with Pusha T, explains why he considers himself the best rapper alive, and much more!
