Dan Dorsky and Mike Campi talked about Vincent Chin Gigante, who led the Genovese crime family, the biggest mafia family in the USA, from 1981 to 2005. He notoriously worked to maintain his image as seemingly mentally unstable, even appearing in public in a bathrobe, which successfully deceived psychiatrists and judges for over 30 years. However, these were strategies to shield his illicit activities. Starting as an enforcer, Gigante notably survived an assassination attempt by Luciano boss Frank Costello, who later refused to identify him in court. Gigante subsequently ascended to lead the mafia family. Amidst mafia warfare, Gigante ordered the assassination of John Gotti, an endeavor that didn’t materialize. Despite this, Gotti was jailed, leaving Gigante as the top mafia boss in the country, a fact previously unknown to the public.
