In this clip, DJ Akademiks broke down the complex history of his relationship with Nicki Minaj as a member of the media. Akademiks said the issue began with his commentary on Nicki’s hit single “Lookin’ A** N****” where she used a famous picture of Malcolm X and effectively undermined the significance of Malcolm’s picture by using it as cover art. Akademiks went on to reveal that Nicki’s legal team attempted to have his negative commentary about her cover art taken off of YouTube.
