In this clip, DJ Yella opened up about NWA taking off after “Straight Outta Compton” being the #1 song on L.A.’s KDAY radio station for weeks. He explained that after the attention from the song, Eazy-E began talking to labels about signing the group, and DJ Yella explained he was annoyed with Eazy for holding out by wanting his label, Ruthless, to be part of the deal. DJ Yella then added that everything eventually paid off for Eazy, and he went on to speak about JJ Fad’s “Supersonic” being the first gold record on Ruthless, which you can hear more about above.
