In this clip, Donell Jones talks about the concept of his latest album, “Free” and the reason why he chose that album title. From there, the 49-year-old reveals that his upcoming LP will be called “Elevate.” Moving along, Donell also shares that he recently formed a supergroup with fellow Chicago natives, Carl Thomas and Dave Hollister called “The Chi.” When Shawn Prez asks the question of why the project has been stagnant as of late, the interviewee explains that the creative/recording process has been halted because the three artists all live in different states. From there, Donell shares his thoughts on another supergroup called Silk Sonic, featuring Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak.
