In this clip, Fredro Starr shared his thoughts on Conway The Machine calling out Funk Flex and other New York DJs for being gatekeepers, and Fredro admitted that the exchange was entertaining. He also agreed with Conway, and Fredro added that DJs control what’s hot and what’s played on the radio, which led to a discussion about “real hip-hop” leaving New York. Fredro explained that New York rappers are chasing trends like Drill and Trap to get noticed and get a deal, while the “boom bap” sound that originated in the city is being left behind.
