In this clip, James Cruz spoke about being at Bad Boy the day that Mase walked out and decided to quit rapping, which James said was a shock in some ways because he was the label’s biggest artist at the time. James and Shawn Prez spoke about seeing how Mase was carrying Bad Boy on his back during low times at the label, including Diddy’s “Forever” album coming in at #2 on the Billboard charts to Christina Aguilera. It was at that time that James was getting offers from all the biggest labels, as he was the biggest promo guy in the game. Diddy got word of this and called James in his office, which is when James told him about Chris Lighty offering him a management job, which led to Diddy calling Chris and giving his blessing.
