In this clip, Jeff Bhasker opened up about working on “Runaway” on Kanye’s “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” album. Jeff explained that he was trying to get the right note for the beginning notes of the song, which led to the haunting arrangement heard at the beginning of the song. Jeff went on to speak about working on “Watch the Throne,” and Kanye flying him out to Australia to record. Jeff explained that he wasn’t confident that he had anything to show them, but after playing them a recent composition, Kanye chose it, and it became “Lift Off.” To hear more, including Beyoncé singing the melody at the start of the song and getting in trouble for leaking Jay-Z’s lyrics, hit the above clip.
