In this clip, Vlad asked John Salley about his former coach Phil Jackson coming under fire for his controversial statements about BLM messaging showing up in the NBA. John stated that he was going to call Phil before his interview, and John explained that he didn’t want to be a Phil Jackson apologist. After pointing to comments made by Scottie Pippen and Jalen Rose about Jackson, John stated that he thinks Phil was speaking about BLM being a political statement. From there, John spoke about Phil Jackson pushing politics in his life and away from the court, years ago, and he went on to point out how the world has changed throughout Phil’s life. Speaking more about Phil, John revealed that Jackson has always worked to help marginalized people, and he also added that Jackson coached on a reservation outside of the NBA.
