In this clip, Shawn Prez revisited Kia Jeffries pointing out that rappers and artists wanted to be original in the 1990s, which made artists creative from everything from their name to their music videos. Shawn added that times have changed, and artists have a hard time getting a record deal if they don’t sound like popular artists. Kia then pointed to female artists, and she urged them to be original, and Kia went on to speak about Akinyele paying her $5,000 to come to a strip club to perform “Put it in Your Mouth.” She then shared another story about Jay-Z performing at Webster Hall, and Kia said that she and Akinyele topped Jay’s crowd by 3X because the hit was so big. When asked about the publishing on “Put it in Your Mouth,” Kia revealed that she owns 40% of the publishing. She explained that Akinyele didn’t know about publishing when he first started out, and she revealed that she brought the paperwork to the studio to work things out with him. Kia also revealed that she was never paid by Missy Elliott, Jay-Z, and Big Pun’s estate for sampling “Put it in Your Mouth.” Kia then revealed that J. Cole personally called her about sampling the song, and she also spoke about joining the group 4KaST and how they broke up almost immediately after releasing one album. Kia opened up about how her pregnancy and marriage were sore spots for the group and its future.
