Renowned music executive and current head of YouTube Music Global, Lyor Cohen, shared his life story and ruminated on his career. Born to Israeli immigrants in New York and raised in LA, Cohen also spent three years of his early life in Israel, which could explain his slight accent. Growing up in a loving, happy family in Los Angeles’ original neighborhood, Los Feliz, he developed a life-long love for music. After graduating from the University of Miami, he started his professional journey at the National Bank of Israel, an experience he found miserable. This prompted him to explore concert promotion with his first successful show lineup, including Run-D.M.C. Despite an unsuccessful Houdini concert that followed, Cohen’s passion for music continued to propel his career forward.
