In the latest clip, Papoose talked about releasing his debut album after nearly a decade of delays. While originally announced in 2004, “The Nacirema Dream” wasn’t released until 2013. After the rapper cut ties with Jive Records, he was forced to release the album independently. Papoose was satisfied with the album’s release despite the project’s failure to chart high. He pointed out that independent releases allows artists to make more money at the expense of notoriety or fame. Check out the rest of the clip to hear Papoose talk about performing at Hot 97 Summer Jam with Kendrick Lamar after being denied a set at the annual concert event.
