In this clip, Shawn Prez started off by asking Roger Bonds about his son’s arrest in Africa, and Shawn pointed out that there was no evidence linking his son or his co-defendant to the crimes they were accused of. Roger explained that they were charged with murder after the victim’s mother told police that her son was “going to meet with two Americans.” Roger added that his son’s name was never brought up, but his son was arrested, and his passport was taken away. Roger then explained that there were three searches on different days, one of which was done without anyone present.

From there, Roger spoke about traveling to Africa to see his son in jail for the first time, and he detailed what the inside of the jail looked like. Roger then revealed that commissary wasn’t a thing in Africa until recently, and he added that there’s a high markup on items that inmates can buy. Roger concluded by discussing the importance of his son’s case as a microcosm of what happens to people being locked up in foreign countries and the hoops families have to jump through to ensure their relative is represented properly. To hear more, including Roger speaking about not getting help from the embassy, hit the above clip.
