Sammy ‘The Bull’ Gravano, a former underboss in the Gambino crime family, shares his audacious plan to escape prison during his time behind bars. The plan involved cutting a window on the 11th floor of the prison using a smuggled cutter and creating a rope from a £100 test fishing line which he would drop to his men waiting on the street below. The expectation was that they would attach a bag with a gun and mountain climbing equipment which Gravano would use to escape. However, after revealing his plan to fellow prisoner John Gotti, Gravano was persuaded not to execute it. Gotti suggested that they bribe the president for a pardon, a suggestion that Gravano scoffed at. Ultimately, the escape plan was never enacted. The judge got wind of the plan, prompting Gravano to deny the involvement of another prisoner in the scheme.
