Special Ed revealed details of his early years in the hip-hop scene and his influences. He mentioned attending school with Busta Rhymes and revealed Rhymes was not rapping back then. Vlad asked him what inspired him to not just be a hip-hop fan but to engage with the craft himself. Special Ed accredited it to seeing other local musicians make music. Ed recounted how he got his moniker, Special Ed from his friend Eric Green, due to his energetic demeanor. He revealed he accepted the name because he wanted to have a positive impact on how people perceive its meaning, considering that ‘Special Ed’ generally refers to special needs education. He shared his experience of being placed in a differentiated learning program, not for special needs but due to his behavior and outspokenness, which he believed was common for many misunderstood kids of his generation.
