Todd Bridges opens up about his rich career before joining the cast of the ’70s sitcom “Diff’rent Strokes.” Bridges took part in over 200 commercials, appearing on popular shows such as “The Love Boat,” “The Waltons,” and “Little House on the Prairie.” Bridges shares his experience working with Gary Coleman in “Diff’rent Strokes,” revealing that it wasn’t initially planned for Arnold to have a brother. In the wake of the cancellation of the series, “Fish,” in which Bridges starred, the creators of “Diff’rent Strokes” decided to include a brother for Coleman’s character. He describes being the setup man for the show as a tough job that required setting up jokes for others. Bridges also discusses the initial backlash against “Diff’rent Strokes” due to its depiction of a racially mixed family, recounting how they received hate mail from both Black and white communities. However, over time, both communities accepted and fell in love with the show.
