Valee on Signing to Kanye West, GOOD Music Split, Rappers Copying Flows, Juice WRLD (Full Interview)
In this new VladTV exclusive, Valee explained his early musical influences and his journey into the industry. Valee mentioned he was born in the Robert Taylor homes but moved shortly after to another dangerous place in Chicago. He mentioned the strong influence of female artists like Whitney Houston, Sade, and Jill Scott on his music taste because of their constant presence in his home growing up. He talked about his previous history making beats and how he would later establish a home studio after a spur-of-the-moment decision to buy recording equipment instead of a gaming system. The rapper also explained how he developed skills in carpentry and auto-mechanics before establishing relationships with Midwest industry figures like John Monopoly and Fake Shore Drive’s Andrew Barber.
