In this clip, Warhol.SS shares background story with Shirley Ju. He talks about growing up in Chicago, his passion for playing basketball in his teens and the way in which he fell in love with music. The 24-year old went on to say that he discovered his passion for music while spending time in his grandmother’s basement, collecting records, and working on his freestyle skills at the age of 16. One year later he made his first song by rapping over C.R.E.A.M. by Wu-Tang Clean and has been freestyling his raps ever since.
He talks about the intricacies of selling drugs when he was in High School and the impact that HBO’s hit series “Euphoria” is having on drug users within the high school-aged demographic. As the course of the conversation changes, the Chicago native talks about moving to Atlanta and how meeting artists like UnoTheActivist made him more prolific at music making.
Later during his discussion with Shirley Ju, he talks about the way in which he came up with stage name “Warhol.SS.” He explains he could see a lot of himself in the late Andy Warhol. Lastly, the rapper sheds like on what the “SS” in his name means. He declares that while it used to stand for “SoShitty” today it means “SuperSport.”
